When did you go into business?

2013

How did you come up with the name?

“The Kolbe Fund was named for the Schnittman’s son, Maximilian Kolbe Schnittman, who was born on the feast day of St. Maximilian Kolbe – a Polish Franciscan friar who volunteered to die in place of a stranger at Auschwitz. Max was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of four - he is healthy today and became the inspiration for The Kolbe Fund.”

Why start a business here?

“The Schnittman’s live in Exton and have based their organization in the community where their family has received so much support.”

Briefly, what business are you in?

“Through its Hopeful Nights program, The Kolbe Fund provides families who have travelled to the Philadelphia area for specialized medical treatment for their child with lodging through partner hotels near the hospital where the child is being treated.”

What’s been your favorite moment/proudest achievement since opening?

“The Kolbe Fund is about to reach the milestone of 1,000 nights of lodging providing to families in need.”

The Kolbe Fund will be marking its second anniversary with a Rhythm & Brews event on Sunday, October 25 at Appleford in Villanova.
