Malvern Prep Rowing Team Boast Two Scholarship Takers

Rowing team members at Malvern Prep recognized for competitive success and high grades.

MALVERN, PA — Two members of the Malvern Prep Varsity Rowing Team were awarded national scholarships for both rowing successes and high grades.

Matthew Davis '21 and Cormac Delaney '21, both members of Malvern Prep's varsity rowing team, were named to the 2020-2021 USRowing Scholarship Honor Roll last week. Davis and Delaney were two of only 43 seniors in the country to be recognized for this achievement.

Students who receive this award must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and have achieved success in competitive rowing at the regional championship level or above. Applicants must be USRowing members, have rowed or coxed (directed the rowers) at least one year, and successfully competed at or above the league or regional level.

"Matthew and Cormac are being recognized for their hard work in the classroom and in the boat," said Malvern Prep Rowing Coach Andrew Madden.

The USRowing Scholarship Honor Roll program has existed since 1992. This year, 146 nominations were received from athletes representing 107 scholastic and club programs across the United States.

Applicant rowing accomplishments ranged from success at the World Rowing Junior Championships, USRowing Youth National Championships, USRowing National Championships and various scholastic, league and regional championships.

Malvern Preparatory School is an independent, Augustinian school for young men in grades six through 12.
