Party Affiliation: Republican
Family: My wife, Bonnie Citron, is a public school elementary principal here in Malvern. We have two children.
Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?: No
Education: Undergraduate: University of Delaware; Graduate: Johns Hopkins University, as well as The University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business.
Occupation: Infectious Disease and Vaccines Research Scientist
Previous or Current Elected or Appointed Office: None, I am a true outsider.
Why are you seeking elective office?: I am running for council for two main reasons. First, because I want to support the other elected officials, as well as the community in maintaining and improving the place where I live and shop. I want to work with the other officials to help sustain home values and continue to preserve the community values of looking out for our neighbors. Secondly, service is a core value I believe strongly in, and having the opportunity to support the very community we are fortunate enough to be part of would fulfill a higher calling to serve in a more direct fashion.
The single most pressing issue facing our borough is: Transparency. "Government ought to be all outside and no inside..." -Woodrow Wilson
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?: The good news is that it appears all the candidates want what is best for this community. At the local level, many of the differences will be slightly nuanced; however, the critical differences between me and the other candidates is that as a new resident, an outsider, I lack agenda for keeping the status quo. I also have the perspective of a renter and a permanent homeowner.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform: Where I lack experiences at the local level, I have critical thinking, listening and decision-making skills that allow me to gather data and use those facts, those metrics, in order to make reasonable and fair decisions that favor the town’s best interest.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?: Anyone who knows anything about science knows finding the truth, the facts, does not come without failure, perseverance, resiliency, and audacity. Typically it comes from working as a team who has different perspectives and experiences than your own and the maturity needed to navigate those different opinions. In addition, I expect from others what I would want from others; fairness and accountability.
The best advice ever shared with me was: I really like a quote I have hanging in my office from Jim Rohn that states, "If you really want to do something you'll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse."
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?: I would like to tell the voters that I would use common sense, be fiscally responsible and do what I would want from my elected officials- serve the constituents
