Missing Teen's Cause of Death Released

Cayman Naib's body was found Sunday, March 8, in Darby Creek, only a few hundred yards from his family's Newtown Square home.

Cayman Naib, 13, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said Monday.

The gun was legally purchased and owned by his father, Farid Naib, Newtown Township Police told The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Cayman Naib was likely dead before his family noticed he was missing, authorities told the Inquirer.

Naib’s body was found Sunday, March 8, in Darby Creek, only a few hundred yards from his family’s Harrison Drive, Newtown Square home.

Naib left home around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, Newtown Township Police said, prompting a multi-day search by hundreds of volunteers.
