Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?: No

Education: Bachelor of Science and Nursing

Occupation: Registered Nurse

Previous or Current Elected or Appointed Office: Great Valley School District Parent Key Communicator and Legislative Committee for GVSD

Why are you seeking elective office?: There are three reasons Sallie is running for office. The first is to represent all the stakeholders in our district and to optimize scholastic outcomes. The second reason is to keep our students safe and in school. The third is to help promote freedom of speech and expression without suppression. Sallie is ready to serve our community, teachers, and students.

The single most pressing issue facing our school district is: How to support our teachers and students, parents, and community in the face of the culture shift for synchronous learning.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?: As a parent of GVSD alumni I have been involved with the school district for many years. I have chaired on committees and raised money and supported teachers. I have supported the freedom to express ideas and thoughts in order to prepare students to be lifelong learners. I have a proven track record of engaging at the school board level as a parent for over two decades.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?: I have spent many years engaging parents, students, board members, faculty, and community partners to help keep the "Great" in Great Valley Schools. I served as a member of the Legislative Committee for Great Valley SD whose job was to disseminate information and decisions that were being made at the legislative governmental level. I served my term limit as a Parent Key Communicator representing GWES. I have chaired the Teacher and Staff Appreciation program. I have served as a community representative at board meetings since 2005. In my career as a Critical Care Nurse, I have the skills needed to communicate, engage, listen and represent groups to achieve outcomes. My training and expertise in nursing have helped me know how to evaluate and execute and goals that are strategic to get results.

The best advice ever shared with me was: There are three virtues that my parents instilled in me growing up, I try to live by these each day and have passed them down to my children they are: Faith, Family, and Freedom.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?: Being a school board member is about representing and respecting all members of the community that a school district encompasses. This includes parents, students, teachers, community members, business affiliates, and governmental relations.
