West Whiteland Devereaux Workers Charged After Teen Assaulted

One worker is accused of assaulting a teenager while two others are accused of not reporting the alleged assault.

WEST WHITELAND, PA — Three workers at a Devereaux facility in West Whiteland are accused of assaulting a teenager and not reporting it, according to reports. The news comes on the heels of Devereaux's deal with the federal government to house immigrant children.

Action News reports, Andrene Bennett-Wint, Tyrena Adams, and Cecelia Gbor are facing charges in connection with the alleged assault with occurred in July.alleged assault with occurred in July at the West Whiteland Devereaux Behavioral Health center.

Bennett-Wint, 35, of Newark, Delaware, is accused of assaulting a 16-year-old student with special needs. She has been charged with terroristic threats, endangering the welfare of children, simple assault and harassment, Action News reports.

Adams, 51, of Philadelphia, and Gbor, 22, of Darby, are accused of failing to report the alleged assault. They are facing charges of felony failing to report or refer and endangering the welfare of a child, court records show.

Adams and Gbor were released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
