World War II Merchant Marine Who Served Malvern Retreat For 50 Years Passes At 89

After serving his country in World War II, Augustus Bono became a Eucharistic Minister and served the Malvern Retreat for 50 years.

NORRISTOWN, PA -- Augustus G. Bono, 89, of Norristown passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 2, 2016, .A recent resident of Frederick Living, Frederick PA, Gus was born June 2, 1927 in Norristown, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Cicala) Bono, and husband of the late Lillian (Genuardi) Bono.

Gus was a longtime member of Holy Saviour Church, Holy Saviour Choir and past president of the Holy Name Society,. He was a Eucharistic Minister and over 50 yr. participant at Malvern Retreat House. Gus served his country as a Merchant Marine during World War ll.. His Army service following the war as a radio repairman led Gus to a long employment with the Borroughs Corporation in Paoli. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all and he will be dearly missed by many.

He is survived by and was the perfect father to his loving daughters Charlotte (Benjamin ) Grisafi, Maria (John) Kardick and Annette (Gary) Cave. His grandchildren are Louis, Patrick, Matthew, Gary, Kari, Shannon, Mikaela and Maggie Rose, as well as step great-grands Taegan and Callum and great grandson Jack Augustus, and his brother Michael (Mary Ann) Bono.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his siblings; Gregory Bono, Angeline Angelo, Antonio Bono and Phyllis Billetto.
