6th Woman Accuses Newtown Square Chiropractor Of Indecent Assault

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA — Newtown Square-based chiropractor Ardel Cirio is being accused again of groping a long-time patient's breast, according to authorities.

Cirio, 61, of Springfield, has been charged again with indecent assault without consent of others after a sixth woman told police he groped her during an appointment.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Newtown Township Police, the victim last week told police she saw Cirio for several years beginning in 2007 or 2008 and later stopped seeing him for treatment. However, she began seeing him again in January 2021.

The victim told police her experiences were typical of her previous time being treated by Cirio, but that in mid January she began having pain in her upper right rib area.

According to police, Cirio massaged the area with at the victim's request, but that he eventually reached under her bra to continue massaging her.

When he was done massaging her, he then placed his hand on her breast, according to police.

The woman told police that happened several times during her treatment and that she felt his actions were appropriate, police said.

Police said the victim stopped seeing Cirio in mid-February.

This marks the sixth female patient to accuse Cirio of groping.

Cirio was initially charged after a woman told police he groped her breasts during an appointment with Cirio at his Newtown Square chiropractic practice. About a week later, a second patient told police Cirio groped her breasts while she was being treated by him.

Then, three more women accused him of groping them, with one woman alleging he put his fingers in her vagina.

Anyone who is or has been a patient of Cirio and believe that they have been subjected to inappropriate or unlawful conduct by him are asked to contact Newtown Township Police Department Detective Sergeant John Newell at 610-356-0602.
