Celebrate International Dog Day With Delaware County SPCA's Featured Pets

Today is International Dog Day, and to celebrate, here are the Delaware County SPCA’s featured pets.

In addition, for the rest of August all dogs and puppies (and kittens) can be adopted from the Delaware County SPCA for $50 off. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before closing if you plan to adopt the same day.

Bonnie

This happy face belongs to Bonnie, a young Hound blend available for adoption through our facility in Media. We rescued Bonnie from an overcrowded shelter in North Carolina and we’re keeping her safe and loved at our Adoption Center. Still, nothing compares to the feeling of having your own forever home, and Bonnie is keeping an eye out for the perfect family. She likes to play with other dogs and would love to have a canine companion in her new home. She could also live with children as young as 8, but she would prefer to not live with cats. Throughout the month of August, Bonnie’s adoption fee, which includes her spay, vaccinations, microchip with registration, and the gift of pet insurance, is $50 off! She’s currently spending time in a foster home while she waits for forever to come along, so email our Foster Coordinator Mark at mwalker@delcospca.org to set up a meet and greet with this gorgeous girl. Pillsbury

Pillsbury is a plump little pooch who is waiting for the perfect forever family to adopt him through our Adoption Center in Media. He is currently residing in a wonderful foster home since we rescued him from a local high volume animal control facility. Pillsbury is a cuddly little meatball who loves to snuggle up in a cozy lap to receive your full attention. He pants happily as you scratch his back and he will even lean up to kiss you in appreciation. Pillsbury is on a weight loss plan to help him shed a few pounds and stay healthy for a long time. He would love to live in an adult only home where he can be the center of attention and make himself comfortable at his own pace. Pillsbury is neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped already. All you need to do is set up an appointment to meet this little fella and fall in love! Lucky

Lucky is waiting patiently at our lifesaving center in Media for you to stop over and visit him. Lucky underwent some trauma and his former owner could not provide the proper care for him, so Lucky was placed into the caring hands of our top-notch medical team. He has mostly recovered with some manageable lasting effects, but he has proven to be quite a trooper and is still a happy and sweet fella looking for a forever home. He loves his walks and responds very well to his name when called, even when he is resting. Lucky will need a quiet, calm, and consistent home where he can adjust to his new life, and a calm doggy companion would suit him well. He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, so Lucky is all set to join your forever family – all you have to do is go meet him! All dogs’ adoption fees are reduced by $50.00 this month, so hurry out to our Adoption Center today to meet this sweet little man and make him yours forever.

Penelope

Penelope is hoping that you’ll pay her a visit so she can dazzle you with her stunning green eyes and charm her way into your forever home. Her previous owner could not care for her long-term, so she was surrendered to our lifesaving center so she could find a family that would be able to give her the love she deserves for the rest of her life. Penelope dreams of a life where she can curl up next to her family and never have to worry about being homeless ever again. All adult cats, including this pretty girl, are just a $9 adoption fee throughout the month of August. That low fee comes with her spay, vaccines, microchip with registration, and the gift of pet insurance, so now’s the time to make Penelope your fur-ever friend! River

River is a fun-loving and friendly young kitty waiting for a loving forever family to scoop her up and take her home. She was rescued from a local high risk animal control facility and brought to our lifesaving Adoption Center where she is sure to be adopted soon. This beauty is only about a year old and she’s nothing if not sweet and charming. River enjoys exploring the cat room, mingling with her feline friends and playing with any toy she can get her paws on. She will thrive in a forever home with older kids, who can keep up with her energy, and she can live with other cats! River is healthy, litter-trained, spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.
