Drive-Thru Toy, Food, Clothing Drive Coming To Newtown Square

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA — As the holidays approach, so does the giving season. And the Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association is looking to join in on the charitable efforts.

The association, VisitDelco, National Realty Corp, and Taylor Made Vets are teaming up to host a drive-thru donation event in Newtown Square.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, residents are encouraged to donate toys, clothes, and food at the Delaware County Veterans Memorial.

The donated items will be distributed to YMCA (which is representing local food banks), Goodwill, and the Smedley Butler Marine Corps League Toys for Tots.

Items accepted at the event are:

Toys For Tots

• New and unused toys, unwrapped
• Any age group

Goodwill (items must be in good working condition)

• Small Appliances/Stereos
• Dictionaries/Text Books/Encyclopedias
• Clothing, Accessories and Jewelry
• Kitchen, Cookware and Decorative Items
• Furnishings
• Computers and all Peripherals
• Records/CDs/Tapes/DVDs/Video Games
• Sporting Goods and small Exercise Equipment
• Shoes
• Toys
• Unopened Non-perishable Food
• Small Home Medical Equipment (Walkers, Canes, and Shower Seats)

Goodwill cannot accept the following items:

• Televisions
• Pianos and Organs
• Mattresses/Box Springs
• Firearms/Fireworks/Ammunition
• Air Guns/Paintball Guns
• Paint and Flammable Materials
• Dangerous Materials
• Large Household Appliances
• Building Materials
• Car Seats
• Items recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission

Food items accepted are:

• Dry food goods
• Peanut butter
• Canned meats, tuna, veggies
• stews and soups
• paper towels and toilet paper
• dish soap and laundry detergent
• toothpaste, deodorant, and bar soap for bathing
• baby diapers and baby wipes, formula
• hand sanitizer and cleaning wipes

The Delaware County Veterans Memorial is located at 4599 West Chester Pike in Newtown Square.
