Gov Wolf Tours Flood-Ravaged Delaware County Towns

Gov. Tom Wolf has been surveying areas around PA, including Delaware County Wednesday, that were heavily damaged by Monday's flooding.

After Monday's major flooding caused massive impacts to various Pennsylvania areas, Gov. Tom Wolf has been touring flood-ravaged areas to survey the damage, including in Delaware County Wednesday.

Wolf was in Darby and Upper Darby Wednesday to see the flooding's impact, according to his press office.

Darby and Upper Darby were hit extremely hard by Monday's flood waters.

"The first responders, emergency management personnel and people of Upper Darby and Darby deserve our thanks for taking care of each other during this tough weather week," he said Wednesday while in Delco. "I am pleased that I was able to meet with some of them to learn what else the state can be doing to help."

Wolf saw damage from flooding to Darby and Upper Darby homes and businesses, some of which sustained severe damage as Naylor’s Run and Cobb creeks overflowed their banks on Tuesday after rains subsided.

"One of the problems here is that people here, Darby Creek, when it rains a lot, you're feeling the consequences of decisions that were made way up the Schuylkill River," Wolf told Action News while in Darby.

During his visit, the governor spoke about taking measures at the state level to mitigate more flooding int he area, including using the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency to build an environmental barrier at Darby Creek.

"I was talking to Republican and Democratic legislatures, figure out maybe what we need to do at a state level," Wolf said to CBS Philadelphia.
