Local Author publishes first children's book.

The book is illustrated by his granddaughter.

Miss Kitty and the Krackerknocker is a new children's book written by Newtown Square resident Michael Gerhardt. This is Mister Gerhardt's twentieth published book, but his first children's story. The book is beautifully illustrated by Charlotte Wismer, Mr. Gerhardt's granddaughter. What makes the project so unique is that Charlotte is vision impaired. She was born blind, having bilateral congenital cataracts at birth, along with glaucoma. The cataracts were removed, and Charlotte has endured seventeen eye operations since then, resulting in partial vision. But her love for illustrative art since early childhood has led her to the skill level she now enjoys, and the illustrations in the book are testimony to that skill.

Charlotte was interviewed by 6abc, and the full interview can be seen at 6abc.com/5668759.

The book is available on Amazon, as are the other works by Mr. Gerhardt. His website is megerhardt.com Charlotte's work can be found at charlottewismer.com.
