"Kate and I, if we could crack a story that we were really proud of and felt like it was a deserving second chapter in Mare’s journey, then maybe," he told the entertainment publication. "I haven’t cracked that yet; I don’t know what that is, honestly."
Ingelsby said to follow up on the first season, he would want to ensure a new "story honors the first chapter and does things an audience will appreciate" to move forward with a new chapter of "Mare of Easttown."
"But as of right now, I have no idea what that could be," he said.
If a second season happens, it's likely that filming would take place in the region again. Filming locations for the first season included Don's Deli in Boothwyn, Kmart in Coatesville, Wissahickon Valley Park in Philadelphia, Phoenixville, and of course Easttown.
The seven-episode series touts a 92 percent "fresh" rating from the review website Rotten Tomatoes.
