Marple Public Library Welcomes Guest Artist Cheryl Schlenker

Ms. Schlenker's works will be on exhibit throughout our library during July and August

The Marple Public Library is pleased to announce that noted artist Cheryl Schlenker is our Guest Artist for September and October.

In 20 creative works now on exhibit throughout our library Ms. Schlenker shares with us her versatility as an artist. In this exhibit she makes colors collide in vivid bursts of visual energy and offers us a fascinating journey into our visual world that make us reconsider our daily perceptions and appreciation of colors.

Cheryl Schlenker, a resident of Media, received a B.S. in Design from the University of Michigan and an M.Ed in Special Education from Temple University. She has traveled and lived abroad in Asia and the Middle East, and has worked as a Peace Corps Volunteer and a Special Reading teacher.

Her love of painting includes finding the surprising colors that exist in what is seen everyday, mixing media to enhance the individual properties of each one, and finding joy in compositions of contrast and color that go beyond the subject matter.

Her works have been displayed in several juried international exhibitions, and she has signature membership in both the Philadelphia Water Color Society and the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society. She has won numerous local and national awards. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Philadelphia Water Color Society and the Media Arts Council.
