New K-9 Police Car Funded by Donations, Gets New Paint Job

Newtown Township Police Department receives new K-9 police car through donations and painted by local auto body shop in Newtown Square.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Back in February of this year, the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors . Now, the car is freshly painted and outfitted, and ready to be used by and .

The K-9 police car, a 2011 Crown Victoria, was entirely funded by donations from the K-9 Unit's fund. In February, the fund exceeded more than $32,000 of donations from local businesses and residents. The cost of the vehicle was less than $32,000.

In addition, the costs of painting, lettering, and outfitting the vehicle was also covered through the K-9 Unit's donation fund. The new vehicle was recently taken to in Newtown Square for the paint job.

"They donated a brand new paint job for the car so that it would be black and white," said Lt. Chris Lunn over an email."The police department is moving back to black and white police cars and this is the first to be put in service in our fleet."

On behalf of the police department, Lunn thanked Cavallo Auto Body as well as the following donors for their support of the Newtown Township Police Department's K-9 Unit:
