Newtown Square Man Plans Theft, Can’t Find Right House
A Newtown Square man and Phoenixville man were arrested on July 1 after a resident observed them hanging out under his deck with a flashlight.

WEST WHITELAND–A 23-year-old Newtown Square man and an accomplice were arrested in West Whiteland on July 1 after failing to find the house they allegedly had planned to steal from. Neither was of sound mind at the time of the apprehension, according to the incident report.
According to a report from the West Whiteland Police Department, the two 23-year-old men, one from Newtown Square and the other from Phoenixville, were arrested in the early morning hours of July 1 after a resident observed them hanging out under his deck with a flashlight at 4 a.m.Â
When officers arrived, the men attempted to flee but were detained and questioned. Officers determined that both were under the influence of intoxicants.

A subsequent investigation determined that the pair had come into the neighborhood with the intention of stealing the property of an acquaintance, but could not find the right house.Â
They were arrested on misdemeanor charges of loitering/prowling, public drunkenness, and disorderly conduct.Â

The Phoenixville man was arraigned and committed to the Chester County Prison after failing to post 10 percent of his $7,500 bail. The Newtown Square man was also committed after failing to post 10 percent of his $5,000 bail.Â
