"Buttery pastry, slow-cooked meat, gravy, and tender veggies all in a piping hot dish," she wrote in her list. "We’re talking about pie — specifically savory pie, like chicken pot pie, shepherd’s pie, and British meat pies."

Maiellano listed numerous spots in the area that serve up some of the best pot pies, and a local seafood purveyor chain with a Newtown Square outpost made the cut.

Hill's Quality Seafood, which has locations in Newtown Square, Media, Glen Mills, and Exton, has a must-try "not-so-classic pie" in its seafood pot pies.

Here's what Maiellano says about the pies:

Head west of the city to try Hill’s seafood pot pies. Each one is creamy and briny with shrimp, bay scallops, clams, white fish, and red bliss potatoes. They come frozen.

The Newtown Square location is at 3605 West Chester Pike.
