Overall Crime Down In Marple, Annual Police Report Shows

MARPLE TOWNSHIP, PA — The 2020 Annual Report from Marple Township Police shows crime is down in Marple, and that has been a several-year trend.
Police recently released the report, which includes data on crime as well as details on police training, equipment, budget information, and more.

According to the report, 2020 saw a major drop in crime.
Police reported 427 crimes in 2020, compared to 618 in 2019 and 652 in 2018.

The decrease is also reflected in the overall calls police got.
In 2020, police got 12,761 calls, about 3,000 fewer than the previous two years which saw 15,487 in 2019 and 15,271 in 2018.

The report says Marple Police made 223 arrests and undertook seven vehicle pursuits in 2020.
According to the reports, there were 535 motor vehicle crashes investigated by the Police Department, which is a 35.7 percent decrease from the 2019, which saw 832 crashed investigated.
No vehicle crashed in 2020 were fatal, the report shows.
