MARPLE-NEWTOWN, PA — The Marple Newtown 4th of July Parade committee is changing things up this year.
This year's event will be the inaugural "Red, White and YOU! Decorating Contest."
Residents in both townships are encouraged to decorate home, businesses, windows, lawns, or anywhere else. The contest is open to all residents, businesses, and organizations in Marple and Newtown townships

Those who wish to participate should register online here or by mail-in printable form by 11:59 p.m. June 24.

Download a registration form online here. Completed forms should be mailed to MN 4th of July Committee, 671 Media Line Road, Broomall, PA 19008.
Winners will be selected by organizers on July 4 and then displayed online.
A map of participants will also be made available when registration closes.
Below are guidelines for the contest:
- Displays may be of any means that reflect the colors, spirit, themes, and patriotism of the Independence Day 4th of July Holiday
- Displays must be family friendly
- Displays should be easily visible from the street. Public viewing should be respectful of private property and maintain appropriate social distancing
- Decorations/displays should be installed and ready for viewing by July 1 at 4 p.m. and remain on display through July 6
- The Parade Committee reserves the right to judge, alter, or decline any registration as it may deem appropriate
- Judging will take place from July 1 to July 3. After, the committee will compile entries and announce a tentative schedule for judging
- All entries will be judged on appearance, creativity, originality
- All contestant addresses and entry names will be listed on a community map, website, and social media pages so that residents may drive or walk by to see your wonderful decorating skills-we will not share your name or contact information
Participation certificates will be given to all registered entries
Awards will be given out in the following categories:
- Most Patriotic
- Most MN Pride
- Most Creative
- Best Window Display
- Hometown Heroes
- Best Use of Red, White, and Blue
- Most Fun
- Best at Night -best lighted display
- Best Under 14 -display done entirely by kids under 14
- Best Overall Residence
- Best Overall Business
- Best Overall Community Group
- Fan Favorite -voted on by community via Facebook poll
- Honorable Mentions
