Third Case of West Nile Found In Marple

Another mosquito sample tested positive for the virus in Marple Township on Sept. 5.

BROOMALL–A third case of West Nile Virus has been found in , according to recently released statistics from the PA West Nile Virus Control Program. 

This is the first positive case reported in Marple Township for the month of September but the third since its first detection in August. Marple was included among the 62 mosquito, six avian, and one veterinary samples that tested positive for West Nile Virus on Sept. 5.

No positive human or bird cases of West Nile virus have been reported in Marple Newtown this year, according to the program statistics. However,  were reported in an undisclosed part of Delaware County on Aug. 13.

Since then, human cases of West Nile Virus have also been reported in Centre, Lehigh (2), Lebanon, Bucks, Philadephia, Luzerne and Chester counties, according to PA West Nile Virus Program statistics.  A person who contracted West Nile Virus in Luzerne County has died, the state reported Monday.
