Wawa Throwing Back To 80s With 'The Goldbergs' Partnership

For Wawa's 57th anniversary, all stores will feature 1980s themes in partnership with the 80s Philly suburb-set sitcom "The Goldbergs."

WAWA, PA — All Wawa stores are going to have a different look for the next week as the chain celebrates its 57th anniversary with some help from a hit comedy show set in 1980s suburban Philadelphia.

Wawa Week runs from Friday to April 23 and will be celebrated at all the chain's stores.

This year, to commemorate the occasion, Wawa is stepping back in time to the 1980s – featuring a special celebration ABC's '80s-themed family sitcom "The Goldbergs."

Now through April 23, all Wawa stores will feature '80s music, themed signage, and in-store audio clips presenting fun catchphrases and Wawa references from the hit comedy. Wawa’s fuel pumps will also feature famous Wawa scenes from the series.

The Jenkintown Wawa, home of the show's "Jenkintown Posse," will be retrofitted with logos, signage and other interior and exterior elements to transform it back to the '80s when the Jenkintown Posse played “Smash Ball” in the parking lot.

Additionally, now through April 19, customers will have the chance to enter a special sweepstakes for their chance to win "The Goldbergs" viewing kits, featuring t-shirts, Wawa gift cards, swag and more. Enter to win and see officials rules online here.

This year, Wawa invites customers to purchase a cup of coffee on Friday and a "The Goldbergs" Garlic Cheesy Chicken Parm Hoagie now through April 23 to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network, with a portion of proceeds going toward member hospitals’ pediatric care efforts.

As part of the anniversary celebration, Wawa is also commemorating the seventh anniversary of The Wawa Foundation, a 501(c)(3), committed to supporting non-profits focused on causes related to health, hunger and everyday heroes, and the achievement of $100 million in contributions since inception.

Wawa opened its first store on April 16, 1964, in Folsom.
