NORTHAMPTON, PA — An upcoming 5K in Northampton will be more than just another walk and run. It will honor the memory of a local couple who were killed in their home last year.

The Christina and Tyler Roy Foundation's first ever 5K run/walk is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 3, at Northampton Municipal Park in Churchville.

It's sponsored by the foundation that was created in the wake of the tragic murders of the couple last May in their nearby home.

Tyler Christopher Roy, 28, and his wife Christina Celenza Roy, 27, were found on the upper floor of their split-level home at 26 Kitty Knight Dr. in the Churchville section of Northampton Township.

Police say they were shot and stabbed by Daniel Mooney, a 26-year-old neighbor who was later found dead of a drug overdose in the Kensington section of Philadelphia.

The Christina and Tyler Roy Foundation seeks to do good in memory of the lives they lived before their tragic deaths.

"The Christina and Tyler Roy Foundation was created to honor the memory of two incredible souls who were tragically taken before their time," reads the 5K's website. "Their love of life and focus on family guide our non-profit organization to be a beacon of hope, directing our efforts to provide comfort, relief, and security to children and families in need."

Created by both sides of the couple's family, the foundation makes donations to help families in times of need and is "focused on providing comfort, relief, and security for children and their families," according to its website.

The Nov. 3 5K will be the foundation's first official fundraiser.

Check-in at Northampton Municipal Park (281 Hatboro Rd., Churchville, PA) will open at 7:30 a.m. The run will start at 9 a.m. and walkers will follow the runners.

Pre-registration for adults is $25 and $30 on the day of the event. Kids under 12 may enter free and all registrants will get a free t-shirt. The 5K will be held rain or shine and overflow parking will be at Maureen M. Welch Elementary School, at 750 New Rd., Southampton.
