According to organizers, McConkey’s Market takes its name from the park’s McConkey Ferry Inn, parts of which date back to 1750. The building represents a typical country inn or tavern of the Revolutionary era. A letter from George Washington to Colonel Cadwalader places Washington at the inn on December 25, 1776, just prior to his crossing of the Delaware River.
