Northampton Police Investigating Gun, Dirt Bike Thefts
While the two thefts were separate incidents, police believe they may be related.
NORTHAMPTON, PA — Police in Northampton are investigating after a handgun and a dirt bike were stolen from two locations on the same night recently.
The timing and proximity of the two crimes have led police to believe they may have been done by the same person or group of people. Both happened between 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, and 6 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 28.
In the first, Northampton Township Police were called to a home on Woodlake Drive to investigate the attempted theft of a dirt bike. Residents said they woke up to the sound of what they believed to be a chainsaw being started outside of a bedroom window.

When they checked, they found their 2017 SSR/SR125 dirt bike toppled over near the side of the house. It had been taken from a shed behind the home.
Police secured the area and searched with the help of a K9 unit from a neighboring police department, but could not find any suspects. Police remained in the area until about 1 a.m.

But, then, they were called back at about 6 a.m., when a resident got up to let their dog out and discovered the shed door open and the same dirt bike missing.
While police were on the scene, they learned that a resident of nearby Bruce Drive reported a 9-mm handgun stolen from an unlocked truck parked in the home's driveway. The owner reported that the gun was unloaded and secured in a car safe.
