Northampton Police Log: Fraud, Theft, & More 6/28 - 7/4

Northampton Township Police responded to 28 alarms, 26 abandoned 911 calls, 37 medical calls, 5 domestic disputes, and 23 bookings.

NORTHAMPTON, PA — The Northampton Township Police Department responded to reports of fraudulent unemployment forms, computer theft, and several vehicle accidents between Monday, June 28 and Sunday, July 4. Read the full report below:

Monday, June 28

  • Complainant was notified by his employer that they received unemployment forms from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor requesting information about the complainant’s current employment status. The complainant said he already reported the fraudulent claim to the Department of Labor website.
Tuesday, June 29
  • Patrol responded to the Sunoco Gas Station for a report of a one vehicle accident, where the vehicle accidentally struck a gas pump. There were no reported injuries and minor damage.
  • Patrol responded to a residence for a report of a simple assault. After further investigation, a male subject was taken into custody.
Wednesday, June 30
  • Patrol responded to Crossroads Plaza for a report of a two vehicle traffic accident. The first vehicle had backed into the second. There were no reported injuries and neither vehicle required a tow.
  • A fire was reported in Village Shires. Complainant reports her kitchen light caught fire and was immediately put out with a fire extinguisher. Police arrived on scene and determined a light ballast burned up.
  • Patrol responded to Newtown Richboro Rd. at Saint Leonards Road for a report of a two vehicle traffic accident. The first vehicle attempted to turn left in front of the second, causing a collision. There were no reported injuries and neither vehicle required a tow.
Thursday, July 1
  • Patrol responded to Buck Road at Rocksville Road for a report of a two vehicle traffic accident. The first vehicle entered the intersection causing a collision with the second. There were no reported injuries and neither vehicle required a tow.
  • Patrol responded to Buck Road at Stoneyford Road for a report of a two vehicle traffic accident. The first vehicle rear-ended the second. There were no reported injuries and neither vehicle required a tow.
  • Patrol responded to a residence off Bobbie Drive for a report of a theft. Complainant reports that she ordered a Dell computer and it was delivered by FedEx. FedEx confirmed the Dell computer was delivered on June 25, but the complainant stated there was no package. The theft occurred on June 25 between the hours of 4pm and 6pm.
  • Patrol responded to a hit-and-run accident in the area of Holland Road and Monica Drive. The driver of one vehicle stated that the other swerved into her lane and sideswiped her vehicle. The swerving vehicle was described as a dark pick-up truck (unknown make and model). There were no reported injuries and the other vehicle sustained minor damage.

Friday, July 2

  • Patrol responded to West Bristol Road at Jacksonville Road for a report of a two vehicle traffic accident. The first vehicle rear-ended the second. There were no reported injuries and neither vehicle required a tow.
  • Patrol was dispatched to East Bristol Road for a report of a found child. After a short period of time, the child was reunited with his family.

Saturday, July 3

  • Patrol conducted a traffic stop in the area of Almshouse Road at 2nd Street Pike. The vehicle was not registered, insured or inspected. After a vehicle inventory, Patrol discovered controlled substances. The vehicle operator and passenger were taken into custody.
  • Complainant came into police headquarters to turn in a leaf blower that he witnessed fall off a landscape truck. The complainant reports the Echo backpack leaf blower fell off a black truck in the area of Industrial Drive at Jacksonville Road.
  • Patrol responded to the area of Bridgetown Pike for a report of a well being check. Complainant reports an elderly man walking down Bridgetown Pike appeared to be in distress. Patrol made contact with the man. There was a language barrier, but Patrol was able to determine the man’s address and provide him a courtesy transport home.

Sunday, July 4

  • Patrol conducted a traffic stop in the area of Holland Road and Monica Drive. The vehicle had a counterfeit registration, counterfeit inspection, no insurance and the vehicle operator’s license was suspended. After a vehicle inventory, police discovered drug paraphernalia. The vehicle operator was taken into custody.
