Senior Center Renamed to Honor James E. Kinney

The Northampton Township Senior Citizen will be renamed in honor of a former supervisor who worked hard to get the facility built.

The Northampton Township Senior Center will be renamed in honor of former township supervisor James E. Kinney, who died in April.

Kinney was closely involved in the center's design and construction and his many years of community service included work with the Bucks County Agency on Aging, according to a PhillyBurbs report.

Kinney, of Churchville, was 79 when he died.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the beloved husband of Joan Smith Kinney for 56 years and son of the late Samuel J. and Frances (Hantwerker) Kinney.

Kinney was a resident of Northampton Township for 41 years. 

He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Philadelphia where he also played football; he received his degree in Business Administration from Temple University. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Germany.
