11th Annual Memorial Day Celebration at Saint Mary Church, Wednesday, May 24th

Saint Mary Catholic School hosts Memorial Day Celebration

On Wednesday, May 24, 2017 the Saint Mary Home and School Association will sponsor its 11th Annual Memorial Day Celebrationwhich is a teaching lesson for Saint Mary School students and a time to honor veterans in the community. The event will begin at 9:00AM with Holy Mass in the church followed by a celebration at 10:45AM on the parish grounds, with the American flag raised to half-mast to honor those who have died in service to our nation.
This yearly event has grown to include numerous veteran organizations from near and far, namely the Boyertown, Lower Pottsgrove and Schwenksville American Legions; the Catholic War Veterans of Norristown; the Marine Corps Leagues of Boyertown, Wyomissing, Spring City and Red Hill, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Trappe, Vietnam Veterans of America, Pottstown, A Hero’s Welcome, Reading Chapter Battle of the Bulge and several Pennsylvania legislators, in addition to its own parish veterans.

The Annual Memorial Day Celebration is sponsored by the Saint Mary Home and School Association, LCPL Matt Snyder Camp Snoops Project, Linda Ortino, and Debbie Harter, RE/MAX Realty Group. The program will include the posting/retiring of colors, a flag presentation, the buddy poppy and memorial wreath presentations, and other Memorial Day lessons.
