St. Eleanor's Varsity Volleyball Team Wins Championship

Cindi Veverka submitted the following information:

Collegeville's Varsity Girls Volleyball team won the Philadelphia Archdiocesan CYO Volleyball Championship, this after winning their Regional Championship a week earlier. The tournament began Friday night with the top 24 teams from each region. Play continued on Saturday at Competitive Edge Sports in King of Prussia with the top 8 teams from Friday night's matches. The anticipation and excitement grew as teams from different regions faced each other for the first time. The top four teams from Saturday would return to play the semi-finals and finals on Sunday.

Sunday's semi-final matches were St. Eleanor region 21 vs. St. Jude region 20 and Mother of Divine Providence region 21 vs. Villa Maria region 17. After two hard-fought matches, the final two teams were set, a repeat of last year's final. St. Eleanor vs. MDP, both from Region 21. After 3 nail biting games, St. Eleanor won the 2011 Philadelphia Archdiocesan CYO Volleyball Championship.
