Feeling Free at Rita's Water Ice
Local residents took some time to enjoy the outdoors and get their free water ice as spring made its 2012 debut
Area residents lined up in the Collegeville Shopping Center for the first-day-of-spring tradition -- free water ice from on Tuesday afternoon, March 20.
In the spirit of giving, Rita's also stationed a shopping cart outside store so generous customers could drop off non-perishable donations for local food pantries.
"We thought if everybody brings one can, what a difference that would make,"Â marketing director Kelly Griffin said about the Spring to Fight Hunger event. "Every year, we get a few more cans. We never have been quite as successful as we'd like to be, but we really want people to jump on board."

"We won't make our donation until sometime next week, so if people want to come by the end of next week, we will still accept items," said Griffin.
