Collision in Trappe Sends Four People to Hospitals

Two vehicles involved; portion of road closed for more than an hour

Four people were sent to area hospitals following two vehicles' near-head-on crash along Route 113 in Trappe, near , according to at the scene.

According to troopers, a car traveling north on Route 113 traveled into the southbound lane to pass another car when it collided with a southbound vehicle. The striking vehicle carried four people; the driver was the only occupant in the southbound car.

One of the passengers in the northbound car tried to leave the scene, for reasons unknown, according to the state troopers, but was "recovered."

Rescue crews worked to free some of the trapped passengers and the trapped driver. Individuals were taken to Lehigh, Paoli, University of Pennsylvania and Pottstown hospitals. The severity of the injuries have not been publicized at this time, but helicopters flew some of the patients from the scene.

Both cars suffered extreme damage and were towed from the scene by DeWane's Garage. Vehicle debris and fluids coated the roadway. Fire police had a portion of the road blocked at College Avenue and Iron Bridge Drive; personnel directed traffic away from the scene.
