Cyclist Hospitalized In Schwenksville Hit And Run, Suspect Sought

SCHWENKSVILLE, PA — A cyclist was hospitalized after being struck by a driver fled the scene in Schwenksville, according to state police and family members. Authorities are asking for the public's help in tracking the suspect down.

The incident occurred on 7:25 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26 on the 500 block of Schwenksville Road.

The cyclist, a 61-year-old man, was taken by medevac helicopter to a nearby hospital, where he remains in intensive care, his family said.

The driver of the vehicle, which was described as a burgundy 2010 Honda Accord, or similar make and model, did not stop and continued west on Schwenksville Road toward E. Park Avenue, according to police.

The car would have significant damage to its windshield, left side, and front exterior.

The family of the victim called the man a longtime Schwenksville resident, an "avid cyclist," as well as a husband, father, and grandfather.
