Pilot Rescued After Weekend's Small Plane Crash In Montco
Firefighters from Perkiomen and surrounding towns responded on July 4 to the fiery scene of a small plane crash at Heritage Field Airport.
LIMERICK, PA — A pilot whose small plane crashed at an airport in western Montgomery County on July Fourth was reportedly OK following the incident, according to news reports.
The Daily Voice reported that the pilot, whose name was not released, survived the crash, even though the plane subsequently burst into flames after crash landing at the Heritage Field Airport in Limerick, a community neighboring Perkiomen Township.
The crash reported occurred just before 1 p.m. on July 4.

The Perkiomen Township Fire Company, which assisted the Limerick Fire Department in putting out the fire that had engulphed the small plane, posted dashcam video from one of its fire trucks responding to the Scene on its Facebook page.
The fire department said in the social media post that the call came in around 12:52 pm, and the video shows a tanker truck rushing to the scene of the crash. Smoke can be seen bellowing out in the field and then flames suddenly erupt.

In a statement posted to its website, the Limerick Fire Department said dozens of firefighters had responded to the scene, with both water and foam used to spray down the area of the fire.
In addition to the Perkiomen Township Fire Company, the Norco Fire Company also assisted at the scene.
