Forbes Best Employers: These 10 PA Companies Made The 2019 List

Forbes has released its annual list of the best large employers in America, and 10 Pennsylvania companies have made the cut.

The popular grocery store Trader Joe’s was ranked the top employer in the United States for 2019, according to the annual list. The rankings released on Wednesday name the 500 best.

SAP took down the top spot for Pennsylvania landing at 25th overall. It was followed by Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, at 119.

The Pennsylvania employers that made Forbes’ 2019 list are:

• SAP (Newtown Square) - 25
• Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (Center City) - 119
• Wawa (Delaware County) - 215
• GlaxoSmithKline (Navy Yard, Philadelphia) - 220
• US Steel (Pittsburgh) - 259
• East Penn Manufacturing (Lehighton) - 300
• Vanguard (Malvern) - 313
• Hershey Entertainment and Resorts (Hershey) - 326
• Kraft Heinz (Pittsburgh) - 338
• CSL (King of Prussia) - 351

In a profile on Trader Joe’s, Forbes writes that the Monrovia, California-based company has been rising steadily on its list, finally reaching the top spot this year after coming in second place in 2018. The magazine writes that the grocery store’s “consistent attention to the basics may be the secret to its success.”

Forbes also notes that Trader Joe’s establishes unique base wages for each market and offers access to benefits to part-time and full-time workers.

For the America’s Best Employers 2019 list, Forbes partnered with the research firm Statista, surveying 30,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees.
