Halloween Spirit Thrives in Schwenksville

Water might melt the Wicked Witch of the West, but these potential paraders were hanging tough despite the rain.

The Halloween season in Perkiomen Valley, like many communities, is dotted with parades. Young -- or just young at heart -- residents have opportunities to don their costumes well before it's time to ring the first doorbell for trick-or-treating.

Despite daylong rain, Schwenksville was counting on hosting a parade and hayride, among other Halloween activities, Thursday evening. With about an hour to go, and temperatures dropping, the Central Perkiomen Rotary canceled the parade. There is no rain date.

PV Patch reader Carrol Reckard and family found themselves "all dressed up with no place to go." This morning Carroll sent photos of the crew, dressed up as some familiar Oz faces, so Patch decided they can parade on our front page, if not down Main Street.
