History Boys: PV West Students Learn About Jefferson, Hamilton
Middle school's history lesson includes a walk through exhibits on two founding fathers.
students wandered through history Thursday as they browsed the library's exhibits on Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson.
The students collected facts about these founding fathers, looked at items and codes that would have come out of their time, and whispered in awe when they saw a copy of the Declaration of Independence, handwritten by eighth grader Nate Yoder. Computer activities for the students included a quiz on whether he/she was more like Hamilton or Jefferson, and a chance to virtually build a Monticello.
Teacher Sean Murphy credited colleague Amy Costigan with putting together the exhibit on Jefferson, noting how difficult it was to gather items because Jefferson "died penniless" and had sold most of his belongings.
