How To Dispose Prescription Meds In Perkiomen Valley On Drug Take Back Day

PERKIOMEN VALLEY, PA — The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office is hosting a prescription drug Take Back Day at 41 locations across the county, including in Collegeville, later this month.

The event, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, coincides with the DEA's nationwide Take Back Day.

It offers residents a chance to clean out their cabinets and dispose of medications in an environmentally safe way. Ridding medicine cabinets of addictive drugs is one of the most important ways authorities are fighting the ongoing opioid epidemic.

"Getting 7,200 pounds of unwanted and unneeded prescription drugs turned in for safe disposal during April's Take Back Day shows that there is a growing awareness of the need to get these medicines out of the house and safely disposed of," DA Kevin Steele said in a statement.
