Inquiring Minds at St. Eleanor's Science Fair

Students, parents and teachers browsed the tables of experiments on display.

students excitedly pulled their parents to ribbon-decked science projects that filled the tables during the school's Science Fair open house Friday, Jan. 20.

Fair participation was optional for the kindergarten through eighth-grade students, and second grader Sarah Legault was chuffed with her top win for her first year participating.

Sarah said winning felt "great" and that she "just wanted to learn about science" with her project, Wonders of Weight.

Eighth graders Jimmy Gallo and Will Keefe also drew from their own interests and desire to learn when working on their projects. Jimmy used his sports interest for his project, Tampering with Temperature Sports. Will said he liked programming, so his project concerned building his own video game.

Kindergarten students Ronald Wolfe and Alexandra Habaradas partnered for their project, and were named grand prize winners for Root and Water Absorption. Due to their young age, Ronald and Alexandra had to rely on some parental help with the writing and spelling, but the two dictated every step of the project.
