Leapin' Lizards! "Annie" Comes to PV Middle School East
Shows Planned for Feb. 28-March 1
COLLEGEVILLE – Perkiomen Valley Middle School East students are proud to present the story of little orphan “Annie” from Feb. 28-March 1 in the Spahr Auditorium.
Shows will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 29, and 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 1. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased online https://www.vancoevents.com/us/book/event?eid=707&, in person during school lunches (10:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.) from Feb. 24 through Feb. 28, or at the door.
More than 50 students are involved in this year’s spring musical, which features the story of Annie and her fellow orphans, who are forced to toil under the critical eye of Miss Hannigan, the orphanage manager. Annie dreams of finding her birth parents, and through a series of fortuitous events is unofficially adopted by a wealthy businessman, Daddy Warbucks. Though initially he dislikes having a child to look after, Daddy Warbucks grows to enjoy Annie’s company and offers a reward to find her parents. The show features the favorites “Hard Knock Life,” “Tomorrow,” and “Maybe.”

Unique to East’s production is a fluffy and adorable Golden Retriever named Sage, who will portray Annie’s dog Sandy. Director Marianne Green wanted a real dog to play the part, and cast Sage in the role after being connected with a former faculty member from the Perkiomen Valley School District family who breeds Golden Retrievers. Jennifer Cochran, a newly retired Evergreen Elementary School teacher, offered Sage to play the role and has been attending rehearsals to help students learn how to work with her pup, one of the dogs who is part of the GoldenSoul Dogs family.
Don’t miss your chance to see Middle School East students and Sage on stage when the production opens on Feb. 28!
