Middle School Students From Upper Perkiomen Valley YMCA Compete For $1,000 At Healthcare Bee

From healthy fats to fitness tips to science facts, students from six area YMCA branches will compete for a grand prize.

PERKIOMEN VALLEY, PA — From healthy fats to fitness tips to science facts, students from six area YMCA branches will compete for a grand prize in the upcoming UnitedHealthcare Bee.

The event will take place at the Spring Valley YMCA and will feature participants from the Audubon, Boyertown, Pottstown, Phoenixville, and Upper Perkiomen Valley YMCAs, in addition to Spring Valley.
Students have been preparing for the bee since January, organizers said. The bee will a quiz show style competition with the goal of getting students excited about health, fitness, and nutrition.

The YMCA cited statistics in the recent America’s Health Rankings Annual Report which places Pennsylvania 37th among all states in physical activity.

Diva Richards, a personal fitness trainer and Crossfit coach, will moderate the event.

To support YMCA programs that keep youth active, UnitedHealthcare awards the winning team $1,000, the second-place team $500 and the third-place team $250, organizers said.

The event will take place on Thursday, May 11 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Spring Valley YMCA on 19 West Linfield-Trappe Road in Limerick.
