Montgomery County Man Charged With Killing Girlfriend: DA

Breaking: Authorities say Anthony J. Depolo, 33, shot and killed his girlfriend Sunday night.

A Montgomery County man has been charged with criminal homicide in connection with a fatal shooting Sunday night in Tullytown, authorities with the Bucks County District Attorney's office announced.

Anthony J. Depolo, 33, of East Greenville, was arraigned and held without bail. Authorities say he fatally shot his girlfriend, 45-year-old Helen Lynn Farr.

Farr was found lying on the ground with no pulse in the 300 block of Main Street when police arrived at 8:43 p.m. Sunday, according to a probable cause affidavit. Farr, who had no fixed address but had been staying in Tullytown, was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m. Monday.

Depolo, who had a .380 caliber Ruger semi-automatic handgun in a holster inside his pants, told police at the scene that Farr had taken his gun from the holster and shot herself, the affidavit said.

During questioning at the Tullytown Police Department, he initially denied arguing with or harming Farr, saying he had returned his gun to its holster after she shot herself, authorities said.

But after a break in the interview, Depolo admitted that he had pulled out his gun and shot Farr as she came toward him during an argument. According to the affidavit, he said he fired one shot that struck Farr in the neck and chest area before putting the gun back in the holster.

Depolo’s preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 10.
