• Local editors for the Montgomery County Patch sites are volunteering at Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust for a portion of the day. This is part of the Patch “Give 5” program, in which Patch editors take on tasks for local non-profits. We have reorganized libraries at community centers and cleared litter from walking trails. If any local organizations want to be considered for the Give 5 program, e-mail ann.cornell@patch.com.

• The Perkiomen Township Fire Co. is holding its third annual comedy show Saturday, Nov. 5. Tickets are $25 each; doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8:30. Music and dancing after the show. For more tickets or more information, call 610-489-7707 or e-mail comedy66@live.com

• Farmer Showdown on 90-acre Longview Center for Agriculture (formerly Willow Creek Orchards,) at 3215 Stump Hall Road, the Nov. 5, noon to 5 p.m. event will feature teams from area farms vying for prizes and glory in contests such as the Pumpkin Shot Put, Wheel Barrow Obstacle Course and Chicken Catching!
Wanna-be farmers are invited to try their hands at various amateur harvesting competitions, as well as apple cider pressing, potato sack races and the ever-challenging “farmer tan” contest.
There will be live music, kiddie crafts and delicious farm-fresh food and drink from vendors including Standard Tap and Victory Brewing Company.

• The Perkiomen Valley High School cheerleaders will be sponsoring a pancake breakfast on Nov. 12 from 8-10 a.m. at the Applebee’s in Royersfod.  Prices are $7 for adults and $3 for children younger than 10; breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, coffee, juice, tea or soda.

• Trappe Beef and Beer Barn Dance on Nov. 12, benefiting Trappe Today and Tomorrow Committee and the Trappe Volunteer Fire Company.
The event is from 7 to 10 p.m. Attendees must by 21 or older; tickets are $15 each ($20 at the door).
