No change to scheduled dates for upcoming Godshall Road bridge project in Perkiomen

In other business, T-Mobile appealed zoning hearing board's decision to deny application

The Perkiomen Township Board of Supervisors held its monthly meeting Monday evening at the township building.

Last week’s inclement weather forced the township to postpone the regular meeting, which usually takes place the first Tuesday of every month.

• The township engineer is aiming for Feb. 22 to advertise the . According to the schedule, the bid opening is March 15, and a bid would be awarded April 5. The board saw the dates and they will remain unchanged.

Supervisors Gordon MacElhenney and Dean Becker will be involved with determining some of the bridge’s aesthetics — such as stone veneers and “masonry systems”— that will be included in the bid specifications, Township Manager Cecile Daniel explained.

The township solicitor is handling the easements from three affected property owners. The easements aren’t needed by bid time, “but it would be nice,” Daniel said.

A separate paving project would take place on Godshall Road after the bridge work is complete, said Daniel. However, that project might change depending on how the winter will ultimately impact township roads in terms of potholes and other issues, Daniel said.

• Kenneth Picardi informed the board that T-Mobile filed an appeal in Montgomery County court, regarding the zoning hearing board’s denial of the application to have, and variances to construct, a telecommunications tower on Township Line Road.  Picardi, Daniel and zoning hearing board solicitor Nancy Wentz have been putting together copies of the testimony’s transcripts to file with the court.

 • The engineers are trying to work with the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy and the Montgomery County Conservation District to address the in the open space in the School House Run area.

Daniel said officials are examining what can be done and are working the numbers in terms of cost.

• The supervisors approved a list of activities for the Perkiomen Township Fire Company during 2011. Daniel said the supervisors must approve a list every year “for insurance purposes.”
