PVMS East Students Rank in Math Madness Competition
Local middle school tops list in national contest.
When it was all said and done, the performance of these students really "added up."
Students in Mrs. Diane Terry’s math classes at Perkiomen Valley Middle School (PVMS) East participated in a Tenmarks' Math Madness competition.
"The competition ran for six weeks, and classes were ranked only if they received 70 percent accuracy or better," said Rob Bowman in a relase about the competition. "Students were encouraged to answer questions online, and classes were ranked by the highest amount of problems attempted."

The road was long, but the students stuck it out to make it to the very end, to be the very best.
"At the end of six weeks, there were 1,371 middle schools in the [nation] that made the 70 percent requirement for accuracy," said Bowman. "Mrs. Terry's Pre-Algebra class ranked ninth overall, and had the highest accuracy rate (97 percent) of the top nine schools."

Terry's other classes ranked 19th, 61st, and 78th out of those 1,371 schools. Overall, her classes attempted 95,904 problems in six weeks throughout the course of the national competition.
Stephen Coleman was the "Math King," according to Bowman, solving 14,438 problems alone.
