Update: St. Eleanor's School Recommended for Merge
After weeks of speculation and rumors, local Catholics learn which schools have been suggested for closures, merging.
Collegeville's St. Eleanor School is recommended to merge with Royersford's Sacred Heart School for the 2012 school year, according to a CBS 3 report.
The recommendation also states that the students would be brought to the Collegeville school.
According to an on Limerick-Royersford-Spring City Patch, Sacred Heart has 184 students.

"According to the plan on the website, Sacred Heart has a current enrollment capacity of 81 percent, while St. Eleanor is at 74 percent," the article states. "There are six programs at Sacred Heart without full-time faculty, while only one program at St. Eleanor is without full-time faculty.
"So, the conclusion for the two schools is a merger into one Regional Catholic School 'to be determined by Sacred Heart/St. Eleanor's Joint Implementation Team.'"

The Blue Ribbon Commission has evaluated schools within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and recommended dozens for either closure or consolidation. Due to factors such as rising costs and declining birth rates, Catholic high schools and grade schools in the Archdiocese have seen a dip in enrollment numbers in recent years.
