Skippack Board OK's Driveway Expansion for Future Moyo Site

In other business, 10-year review of the township's comprehensive plan is coming up

From the Skippack Board of Supervisors Meeting:

• The board approved, by majority vote, to allow a driveway modification at 4335 Skippack Pike. The property includes the old Lockwood House and a barn, and the current owners, the Schofields, will convert the barn into the new home for Moyo Yoga Studio. The couple wants to expand the driveway to accommodate two-way traffic for the studio. The land is within a floodplain, so the board had to approve the request for expansion.

Testifying before the board on behalf of the Schofields, civil engineer Rolph Graf said the township’s conditional use ordinance offers standards dealing with public safety, welfare and health. Graf said he believed the proposal was consistent with those concerns; the expansion site is the only place on the property that won’t cross the channel of water and modifying the driveway will make conditions safer for the anticipated additional traffic.

Also, the board unanimously granted preliminary and final approval for the site’s subdivision and land development.
• Skippack Township is about to embark on its 10-year review of its comprehensive plan. Planner Joseph Zadlo said the first part of the effort has been to take overview and look at everything that has been changed and accomplished in last decade.  That information will be available to the residents, and a public meeting will held to garner input. A schedule of dates is pending.
• The supervisors granted a request to Cedars Communication for a subdivision and land development at 4446 Skippack Pike, on the opposite side of the intersection with Lucon Road.  The property is currently vacant, and the company wants to put in buildings -- an office up front and storage for contractors, Township Engineer Tim Woodrow said.
• The board approved purchasing a John Deere 544K Wheel Loader and snow plow to replace a ’96 dump truck that’s “hard to get parts for,” board member Bill Parkins said.

• Ben Webb, of the Skippack Historical Society, was appointed to the Parks Board’s vacant seat. Paul Fox had previously held the position.

• New chair Mary Beth La Belle thanked everyone for the opportunity to serve in this new position. “I’ve learned a lot in the past month” and hopes to continue to grow with the position. She also welcomed Paul Fox to the board.
