Skippack Township Hosting Free E-Cycling Event

The event will take away your obsolete and unwanted electronics.

Skippack Township will hold an e-cycling event March 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Palmer Park, located at 4048 Creamery Road in Skippack.

According to a press release on the event, all materials collected will be recycled in an environmentally friendly manner, and, for security purposes, all media data that is collected will be destroyed.

The township is working with eForce Compliance, a dual certified electronic recycler, based in Philadelphia. The company’s co-founder Charles Nygard told Patch that nearly all electonic deveices contain potentially hazardous heavy metal, which make putting them in landfills undesirable and potentially dangerous to the environment.

Furthermore, the state passed earlier this year the Covered Device Recycling Act, which requires residents and businesses to properly dispose of their electronic devices, a part from their regular trash pickup.

According to the release, the March 23 event in Skippack will accept “Anything with a Plug,” including most small electronic items, but not larger appliances, such as refrigerators, washers and dryers.
