‘Smash-and-Grab’ Theft Under Investigation

These cases are from Pennsylvania State Police incident reports; all subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

A car parked on Main Street in Lower Frederick had its window was smashed and a woman’s purse stolen, according to a report.
According to police, the car was parked while the woman went for a walk on the on Nov. 13 between 12:23 and 12:58 p.m. The purse was on the car’s passenger seat and contained credit cards and cosmetic items, the report states.

Man Allegedly Brought Drugs onto SCI Graterford Grounds
A Folcroft man was taken into custody the morning of Nov. 13 after personnel found drugs on him, according to a Pennsylvania State Police report.
Marcus Garland, 41, was on the prison grounds and had consented to a search, the report states. Garland allegedly had two small bags and four vials of suspected marijuana and a bottle of prescription drugs, police said.

Police: Cigarettes Stolen in Gas Station Break-In
Police are looking for information regarding a break-in and theft from US Gas on 1463 North Gravel Pike, Lower Frederick, shortly before 2 a.m. Nov. 13.
According to a Pennsylvania State Police report, an unknown person (or people) attempted to smash the glass front door of the business. The person (or people) smashed the front window and entered the business, police said. Several packs of cigarettes were reportedly taken.

Police: Woman Facing DUI, Other Charges
Pennsylvania State Police reportedly stopped Michele Lyn Gilchrist, of Schwenksville, for erratic driving in the 500 block of Township Line Road shortly after midnight Nov. 12.
According to police, Gilchrist “exhibited signs of alcohol impairment and failed to complete field sobriety tests. She was transported to PSP Skippack for a chemical test of her breath.”
Charges will be filed in District Court 38-1-24, according to the report.
