State Trooper Shoots Armed Man In Perkiomen Township
Troopers said they were called to the scene of a "psychological emergency," and the man refused to put down his weapon.

PERKIOMEN TOWNSHIP, PA — A Pennsylvania state trooper shot an armed man who refused to put down his weapon during a confrontation in Perkiomen Township this week.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at around 8:46 p.m. on the 200 block of Oak Street.
Three officers from the Troop K Skippack patrol unit were called to the scene of what authorities described as a "psychological emergency."

They encountered the man, a 31-year-old Collegeville resident, walking out from behind a vehicle in a driveway holding a gun.
The troopers repeatedly commanded to put down the weapon, but he did not, state police said.

One of the troopers then fired two shots at the man, hitting him once in the stomach.
The troopers provided first aid to the man, who was transported to Paoli Hospital by Trappe Ambulance. He was in stable condition on Thursday.
Pennsylvania State Police and Montgomery County Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident. Charges have not yet been announced.
