The Nottage Project Has You Covered
Volunteer organization collects clothing for those in need.
The Nottage Project, co-founded by Collegeville resident Allegra Nottage, held its first-ever clothing drive at the Sunday, Jan. 22.
The fledgling volunteer organization got its official start in November 2011, having grown out of an unofficial second-hand clothing bank in Nottage's basement.
Nottage wanted to "focus on the needs of suburban Philadelphia" and found that many shelters don't have the resources to sort through donated clothes for the people they serve. The Nottage Project takes on the sorting task and matches the clothes with the needs of a specific beneficiary (for example, a man going on a job interview).

As the Nottage Project continues to grow, its co-founder is pleased with its early successes. The clothing drive was held in conjunction with Mandy Keep's Sweet House photo shoot, and winter coat donations began piling on the fire house's front steps before the collection began.
"I wish I could have taken a picture," she said with a smile.
Nottage encourages community members to donate as much as they can, and not worry whether it's an item or two a pile of clothes.
"Even if it's one dress, it's still one more than what we have."
