Trappe Fire Company Ambulance's Jeff Long receives Local EMS Hero Award

Trappe Fire Company Ambulance's Paul Giannini submitted the following information:

is thrilled to announce that Jeff Long is the recipient of the 2012 Pottstown Memorial Medical Center Local EMS Hero award.

This award is given annually during EMS week by PMMC. Recipients are nominated by their peers and the award winner is chosen by the hospital.

Jeff is a career paramedic with Trappe EMS. He started his career at Trappe 16 years ago as a volunteer EMT. He was certified as a paramedic in 2000. Jeff currently serves as TFCA battalion chief and is responsible for company logistics and supplies. He has held multiple positions of responsibility within TFCA including chief engineer and chief of EMS. Jeff also coordinates the company’s EMS strike team, a rapid deployment unit that was dispatched to affected areas after hurricanes Katrina and Gustav. Jeff has also been a volunteer firefighter since 1991 and holds many fire service and instructor certifications.

When asked about receiving the award Jeff said “I love my job and the fact that I get to take care of people. I never expected to be recognized like this. It’s a great honor."

Trappe Fire Company Ambulance is a non-profit Emergency Medical Service serving Trappe and Collegeville boroughs and Limerick, Upper Providence and Perkiomen townships in western Montgomery County.
